An Autumnal Checkpoint

As of writing, it is early November, and my experience of autumn so far has not been very classically autumnal.

For me, photography is my hobby and it fits in around the rest of my life. So I have to grab whatever opportunities I can to go out and take photos. Sometimes the available time I have to go out with my camera coincides with some great light or conditions, and sometimes it doesn’t, and this autumn it hasn’t. Last weekend, I was driving down the motorway on my way somewhere with my family, and the conditions could not have been better for photography, but that is not much use when I have other commitments. I went out the next day with my camera, when it was overcast and dull. Not ideal, but you have to do what you can.

This might sound like I am complaining, but that is not the case. I find I am sometimes happier with the photos I take when the conditions are far from perfect than when they’re just right. I am writing this as a reflection for myself. When I’m looking through the photos I’ve taken recently and don’t see an abundance of rich reds and oranges, this serves as a reminder that what I have captured is what was in front of me.

Anyway, I thought I would put a few photos on here from recent walks close to home, to document what things looked like this year at this time.
